Kenya Airways (KQ) has temporarily suspended its flights to Comoros and Mayotte due to the anticipated impact of Tropical Cyclone Chido. The cyclone, which is expected to last until Monday, December 16, 2024, poses a significant safety risk to the affected regions.

In a statement issued on Saturday, December 14, Kenya Airways emphasized its commitment to the safety of passengers and staff.

“To ensure the safety of our staff and customers, our flights into Comoros and Mayotte have been temporarily suspended. We sincerely apologize to our customers for the inconvenience this may cause. The safety of our customers and staff is our number one priority. Our prayers are for the safety and wellbeing of the people impacted by these adverse weather conditions,” the statement read.

The airline assured travelers that it is closely monitoring the weather situation and plans to resume flights once conditions improve, potentially on December 16, 2024.
