Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has denied claims of a potential political alliance between former President Uhuru Kenyatta and President William Ruto. These assertions arose following a recent meeting between the two leaders, which sparked widespread political speculation.
Political analysts suggested that the meeting could signal Ruto’s attempt to garner Uhuru’s support in addressing growing political challenges in the Mt. Kenya region. However, Kioni dismissed these theories, stating that the meeting was purely routine and devoid of any political undertones.
“Uhuru still remains on the side of Kenyans. I have seen people saying a lot of things because Ruto visited him. If someone visits you, it is obvious you will let them in. They will leave after the agenda of the meeting. This does not mean that you have changed your stance,” Kioni clarified.
Jubilee Party’s Opposition Role
Kioni reiterated that the Jubilee Party remains steadfast in its position as part of the opposition and has no intention of partnering with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
“Jubilee Party, which is one of the largest parties in the country, does not intend to partner with UDA; we have no time, and we won’t get there. We will remain in the opposition and represent the people’s views,” he asserted.
Kioni emphasized that the issues Uhuru discussed with Ruto align with the Jubilee Party’s ongoing advocacy for the people.
Commitment to Opposition
The Jubilee Party leader concluded by affirming the party’s commitment to championing the interests of Kenyans from the opposition.
“We will remain here and fight for the people all the way to the end,” Kioni said.
This clarification underscores Jubilee’s continued focus on opposition politics, dispelling any notions of a political reunion between Uhuru and Ruto.
