On Wednesday, November 6, YouTube announced the availability of YouTube Music and YouTube Premium in Kenya.
According to a press statement released to newsrooms, Kenyans can now enjoy access to over 100 million official songs through YouTube Music, which also features an extensive catalog of live performances, music videos, remixes, podcasts, and rare music content.
The YouTube Music app introduces personalized recommendations and allows users to listen offline and in the background. For YouTube Premium subscribers, the benefits include ad-free viewing, background play, and the ability to download videos for offline enjoyment.
Premium subscribers automatically gain access to a premium version of YouTube Music, enabling them to enjoy ad-free, offline music listening on the standalone YouTube Music app.
YouTube Music (Individual) is priced at Ksh419, while the YouTube Music Family plan comes at a cost of Ksh669. The YouTube Premium Bundle is available for Ksh499, and the YouTube Premium Family plan is priced at Ksh949.
Commenting on this new development in Kenya, Addy Awofisayo, Head of Music, Sub-Saharan Africa at YouTube, stated, “In addition to YouTube Music, YouTube Premium caters to our dedicated viewers by providing an enhanced viewing environment, empowering them to watch their favorite content seamlessly.”
