The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has urged drivers on the Nairobi-Nakuru route to stick to their lanes due to heavy traffic caused by increased Christmas travel. Hundreds are stranded near Rironi, prompting KeNHA to advise using alternative routes. Traffic police are actively managing the situation, with images online showing motorists overlapping. Senator Boni Khalwale is stuck in the traffic, emphasizing the need for a dual carriageway. Nationwide, roads are congested as people head upcountry for the holidays. The Nairobi-Nakuru-Eldoret highway is heavily affected, suggesting alternatives like Maai Mahiu-Narok and Naivasha-Njabini-Olkalou-Lanet-Naruru roads. Inspector General Koome warns of expected festive season traffic, urging caution and attributing accidents to preventable human factors. He assures safety, mentioning the recall of police officers on leave for duty during Christmas.
