Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz has taken steps to improve his English skills after facing criticism for his broken English. Fans of the singer have noticed a significant difference in his speech while appearing on the TV reality show “Young, Famous, and African.”

Diamond’s grammar has noticeably improved since his first appearance on the show’s first season, and this change has not gone unnoticed by netizens who have been closely following his journey. In the past, Diamond faced online trolling and numerous memes were created based on his response when asked about his age, where he mistakenly said, “I’m 31st.”

“Young, Famous, and African” premiered on Netflix with an impressive cast that included prominent figures such as Ugandan businesswoman Zari Hassan, South African actress and singer Khanyi Mbau, Nigerian fashion designer Jeremiah Ogbodo (known as Swanky Jerry), South African TV personality Andile Ncube, and Nigerian model, actress, and presenter Annie Macaulay-Idibia.

Diamond’s struggles with English are not new, as he faced jokes and ridicule in 2018 when he was unable to answer a question asked in English by his daughter Latiffa. A video shared by Diamond showed him engaging in a playful conversation with his daughter, during which Latiffa suggested that he should get rid of his beard and feed it to the birds. She then pointed at Diamond’s bare chest and asked about the hairs on it.

Diamond responded by saying, “This is the hair, I do not know how to explain it in English, my friend. My English is not good.” He then turned to Zari, his ex-partner, asking her to provide the English term for the chest hairs.
