Police in Eldama Ravine, Baringo County, are on the hunt for a man suspected of brutally murdering his ex-wife in what authorities believe was a jealous attack.
In a statement on Tuesday, March 25, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reported that the victim, a 32-year-old woman, was found dead outside her boyfriend’s rented house with deep head wounds.
Suspect on the Run
Investigators believe the primary suspect, Alex Kimeli Ng’elel, attacked his former spouse after learning that she had moved on with another man.
“The devastating incident was reported by Saos area Chief Ms. Judith Chebon after the woman’s lifeless body was found outside her current boyfriend’s rented house with deep cuts on the head,” the DCI stated.
Witnesses reported seeing the victim heading toward her boyfriend’s house shortly after 8 PM. Within an hour, her body was discovered drenched in blood, sending shockwaves through the community.
“Neighbours who witnessed the horrendous scene noted that they last saw the victim heading to her boyfriend’s house at around 8 PM. By 9 PM, her lifeless body was found soaked in blood in the compound,” the DCI added.
Following the grisly discovery, detectives from the DCI Koibatek division launched investigations and have intensified efforts to track down the suspect.
“Detectives from DCI Koibatek have commenced investigations, and the prime suspect, Alex Kimeli Ng’elel, who has since fled, is being pursued,” the DCI confirmed.
Meru Robbery and Assault Case
This incident comes just a day after the DCI launched a manhunt for three violent robbers who attacked a man in Meru County before sexually assaulting his girlfriend.
In a statement on Monday, March 24, the DCI detailed that the victims were traveling on a motorbike to their home in Mwitetia, Meru County, when they were ambushed by the armed gang.
“Imenti North detectives, Meru County, are pursuing a gang of three violent robbers who accosted a man and his girlfriend, robbing them of their valuables before stabbing the man and raping his partner in turns.”
The attack occurred around 5 AM in the Gakoromone area. The victims were rushed to Meru Teaching and Referral Hospital by good samaritans, where they received treatment before being discharged.
“DCI detectives are piecing together leads to track down the heartless perpetrators, and it is only a matter of time before they are brought to justice,” the DCI added.
Both cases highlight the increasing concerns over violent crimes in Kenya, with law enforcement intensifying efforts to bring suspects to justice.
