Gachagua to Raila: “Join Us and Let’s Send Ruto Home in 2027”
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has made a bold appeal to ODM leader Raila Odinga, urging him to switch political camps and help unseat President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during a worship service at the Gospel Confirmation Center in Machakos, Gachagua took a swipe at Ruto, claiming the president is steadily losing his grip on power as the election season draws closer.
“Ruto’s Political Survival Depends on Raila”
Gachagua argued that Ruto’s political lifeline is tied to Raila Odinga, insisting that without Raila’s backing, the president’s reelection chances would crumble.
“The President’s current life support is Raila Odinga. If we switch it off, it’s over,” he declared.
Despite his call for an alliance, Gachagua emphasized that he could still defeat Ruto without Raila’s support.
“If the mzee (Raila) and he (Ruto) want to team up, that’s fine. Our journey is unstoppable with or without him,” he asserted.
He dismissed any claims of desperation, maintaining that his camp has the numbers to secure victory.
“We are not desperate. The numbers favor us, and it will be an easy job,” he added confidently.
“Raila Should Not Trust Ruto” – Murang’a Senator Warns
Backing Gachagua’s sentiments, Murang’a Senator Joe Nyutu cautioned Raila against trusting Ruto, reminding him of how political alliances can shift unexpectedly.
He pointed to Gachagua’s fallout with Ruto and subsequent impeachment as a warning sign.
“Raila cannot sit at the same table with Ruto. If Ruto could impeach Gachagua after he brought him 5 million votes, what about Raila?” Nyutu questioned.
The senator reaffirmed their mission, declaring that regardless of Raila’s decision, their ultimate goal remains the same.
“Whether Raila joins us or not, we have made up our minds—Ruto must go home,” he declared.
Political Realignments Ahead of 2027
As the 2027 General Election nears, Kenya’s political landscape is heating up, with fresh alignments and shifting alliances taking shape.
Gachagua’s latest call to Raila signals a new political battlefront that could redefine the presidential race. Will Raila heed the call, or will he stick with Ruto? The coming months will be crucial in shaping Kenya’s future leadership.
