JKIA terminal shut down temporarily following fire incident.

Following a fire incident in the early hours of Monday morning, Terminal 1E at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) has been temporarily closed. The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) revealed in a statement that the fire was triggered by an electrical failure. Fortunately, prompt action led to the containment of the fire, and no injuries were reported.

As a precautionary measure, KAA has decided to keep the terminal closed until further notice. Consequently, all flight operations at Terminal 1E have been redirected to Terminal 1A. The decision aims to ensure the safety and security of passengers, staff, and stakeholders at the airport.

In their statement, KAA emphasized their commitment to minimizing disruptions and swiftly returning to normal operations. They assured that all necessary steps are being taken to address the situation effectively. The closure of Terminal 1E underscores the importance of stringent safety measures in maintaining the integrity of airport facilities.
