Journalist Rita Tinina Discovered Deceased in Her Residence

Kenyan television journalist Rita Tinina, who had been working for NTV since October last year, has passed away. Her lifeless body was discovered in her residence in Nairobi’s Kileleshwa area on Sunday morning, where she was expected to be at work. Concern arose when Tinina failed to show up for work and could not be reached via phone.

According to a police report filed at the Kileleshwa Police Station, Tinina’s sister found the 46-year-old journalist unconscious in her bedroom. Emergency medical services were immediately called, but paramedics confirmed that she had already passed away. The police report indicated that Tinina, who was epileptic, had been suffering from a severe fever for five days prior to her demise, as reported by her sister.

A family spokesperson requested privacy as they grapple with the sudden loss of the journalist. Nation Media Group (NMG), Tinina’s employer, released a statement in the evening, expressing condolences and describing her as a skilled and experienced journalist who served with dedication and passion. Tinina was an output producer at NTV until her passing.

Friends and industry colleagues mourned Tinina as an exemplary figure in journalism, dedicated to nurturing young talent and deeply committed to her family and country. Despite no physical injuries found on her body, her passing has left a void in the journalism profession.

Tinina is survived by her 8-year-old daughter. Her body has been transferred to Umash Funeral Home in Nairobi as arrangements are made for her final rites.
