Passaris to Uhuru: Set Aside Differences and Support Ruto’s Leadership

Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has called on former President Uhuru Kenyatta to set aside political differences and support President William Ruto’s leadership, emphasizing that his backing is crucial for Kenya’s stability and development.

Speaking on Wednesday, March 5, Passaris underscored the importance of unity among past and present leaders, warning that national progress could be hindered without Uhuru’s cooperation.

“It is vital for a former president to support the sitting president because, without that, the government’s progress could be affected,” she stated.

Passaris acknowledged Uhuru’s close ties with ODM leader Raila Odinga and expressed optimism that, like Raila, the former president would prioritize Kenya’s future over political disputes.

“Uhuru is close to Baba (Raila), and Baba is known for pushing Kenya forward. I urge him to follow that example, set aside differences, and focus on what benefits the country,” she added.

She further reminded Uhuru of his influential position as Kenya’s only living former head of state, urging him to use his experience to bridge political divides.

“As the only surviving past president, with major investments and family in this country, you have the power to bring together Ruto, Raila, and other like-minded leaders to drive Kenya forward,” she urged.

Passaris’ appeal comes nearly four months after President Ruto’s unexpected visit to Uhuru’s Gatundu home, a meeting that shocked many Kenyans given the long-standing political tensions between the two leaders.
