President Ruto Calls for High-Level Meeting to Combat Corruption in Kenya

President William Ruto has expressed his readiness to meet with Chief Justice Martha Koome and legislative leaders to address issues of corruption in the Kenyan government. During the commissioning of Tinderet Technical and Trainers College on January 16, Ruto stated that he will take a leading role in the conversation to tackle vested interests, incompetence, and corruption that hinder the country’s progress. He emphasized the need to confront corrupt individuals who use legal avenues to evade charges after being investigated.

Ruto also mentioned plans to discuss challenges related to the Affordable Housing Programme and Universal Health Coverage, expressing satisfaction that the Judiciary and Legislature are willing to engage in the conversation. The President’s announcement follows Chief Justice Koome’s acknowledgment that the Judicial Service Commission has requested an audience with Ruto to address his recent claims of corruption in the Judiciary. Koome expressed a desire for dialogue to understand the issues and obtain relevant information from the President.
