Safaricom has enhanced its 5G for Business service to provide SMEs with faster and more reliable internet connectivity, catering to their expanding digital needs, such as online transactions and remote operations.
The announcement was made during the Grow with Safaricom Business Western Kenya edition, a platform designed to equip SMEs with technological insights to help them scale their businesses. This event is part of the ongoing Sambaza Furaha na Safaricom Caravan.
The updated 5G for Business offers speeds up to five times faster than before, promising improved internet performance and an enhanced customer experience for SMEs, according to Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa.
“The new 5G for Business ensures SMEs can access enterprise-grade internet performance without overextending their budgets,” said Ndegwa. He further emphasized, “This initiative will empower businesses to boost productivity, enhance customer engagement, and scale operations efficiently in today’s digitally connected market.”
Safaricom also announced a special offer running from November 29, 2024, to December 31, 2024. During this period, businesses that sign up for the upgraded 5G plans will receive a 25% discount on all 5G packages.
Kenya Institute of Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) data highlights the importance of supporting MSMEs, with over 7.4 million such enterprises employing approximately 14.9 million Kenyans and contributing 30% to Kenya’s GDP.
