On Monday, April 1, Kenya Airways (KQ) welcomed its second Boeing 737-800 Freighter, expanding its cargo fleet to four aircraft in total.
This addition will enhance cargo capacity across Kenya Airways’ global network, particularly in the Middle East, Asia, and Africa, benefiting customers and partners.
Allan Kilavuka, the Group Managing Director and CEO of Kenya Airways, emphasized the airline’s commitment to growing its cargo business to meet long-term customer needs.
“The arrival of the new B738 Freighter, the second this year and the fourth in our cargo fleet, marks a significant milestone in KQ Cargo’s expansion plans. We anticipate that these additional cargo aircraft will enable us to boost capacity and increase frequencies, thus contributing to Africa’s growth and fostering connections between its people, cultures, and markets,” said Kilavuka.
The new Boeing 737-800 Freighter will be deployed on various routes, including Sharjah and Dubai World Central in the UAE, Jeddah, and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, Dakar in Senegal, and Lagos in Nigeria, among others.
With a cargo capacity of 20 tons and a range of up to 7 hours, the new aircraft joins Kenya Airways’ existing cargo fleet, which includes one Boeing 737-800 and two Boeing 737-300 Freighters.
